The People I Surround Myself With! By: Ashlyn Warren The people I surround myself with have influenced me to develop confidence, competitiveness, and independence. The people that I get these qualities from are my instructors and friends from Amazing Grace Conservatory (Performing Arts Academy), Los Angeles Jets (Track Team), and Just Lovin' Music Studios (Lessons for Instruments). Because of these experiences I will be a success in life! One experience that has made me so confident was the first time I walked into Amazing Grace Conservatory (AGC). When I was 9 years old my mom signed me up with a theater group called AGC. I really did not want to go. This was because I shy back then so I did not like introducing myself to other children. I cried but my mom dragged me there anyway. Once I walked through that door, two boys introduced themselves to me! After we talked for about two minutes, something got in me and I just could not stop talking and being bubbly. Soon after lunch that day I had about twelve different friends and there was a new me! Till this day at twelve years old those two boys Jared and Ashton are my best friends!!!!!! Situation that made me competitive is my first track meet with the LA Jets Track Team! I was nine years old. I was so nervous my stomach was rolling. Biting my nails; waiting for me heat number to be called up. About six minutes later they called my heat number, fifteen. I got in my lane looking in the stands for my mom. I was waiting for the gun to fire; it felt like forever before it went off. Once the gun went off I just ran. I didn’t look back or anything. I was in third place at that time. Then some voice in my head said, “Run harder.” It repeated till the race was finish. The first time I ran harder, I passed one person. Next time I passed another person. The voice repeated itself again, and I passed another person. Just a straightaway left, and I was in first place! I was so excited I finished the race in first place. Till this day every time I run that event that same voice still repeats itself! It reminds me to run even hardest I have ever ran! There is one quality I have no idea where I got and it is how independent I am. I love to do everything by myself. If was building a shelf I would try to build it without the instructions. Being independent is a good trait but can also be bad. The reason it could be a bad trait is that you it sometimes affects your cooperation with others. But my intention is always to use this trait in a positive manner. All the people around me have loving, joyful, happy, loud, and playful hearts. What is great about these people is that they take the time to share their qualities with. So here is some advice: surround yourself with people that you would aspire to be like! |
